Did you know that the average business owner tends to have between 30 and 100 tasks on their plate at any one time? Workers are distracted for around 2 hours of the day as well. If this sounds like you, then you will know how frustrating it can be. You may feel as though you are never getting a moment’s peace and that your list of things to do is just endless. If this is the case, then you will know how much this can impact your personal life. If you want to start getting on top of that, then there are a few things that you can do, some of which can be found below.
Act, don’t React
You will probably experience stress when you feel as though things are out of your control. When you feel out of control, your stress hormones rise and this can wear down your confidence and your level of concentration. This is the last thing that you want, but luckily, there are things that you can do to help yourself. This starts with taking accountability for your own actions, and making others accountable for theirs. When you do this, you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to unwind and you may even find that other people pull together to do their bit as well. If you are struggling with stress then remember that there are some herbal remedies out there that you can try.
Take a Deep Breath
If you are feeling incredibly overwhelmed because you have come out of a tense meeting and you feel the need to clear your head, then sometimes it helps to take some deep breaths for a while. Inhale for a total of five seconds and then hold it. When you have done this, exhale through the nose for the same amount of time. When you do this, you will soon find that it is easier for you to maintain your focus and that it is also possible for you to unwind much easier.
Eliminate Interruptions
Most people are bombarded during the day. They have to deal with emails, pop-ins, instant messages, deadlines and phone calls. This can become very overwhelming, very quickly but you need to try and keep your cool. The main thing that you have to remember is that many interruptions are reoccurring, and they can also be anticipated too. The more preparation you can do, the better, so keep that in mind.
Schedule your Day
If you think that by working longer, you’ll get more done, you need to make a change. When you work eight or ten hours a day, your productivity will suffer, and you may even find that your stress levels go up as well. This is the last thing that you need, so try and make sure that you do everything you can to schedule regular breaks and that you also give yourself some “you” time. If you do this, then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to get a positive result out of every day.
