Preparing Your Store for a Post-COVID Reopening

If you’re like most stores now, then you’re probably getting ready to restore your daily business routine for a reopening. While many stores are still wary about opening again, there’s no denying that many businesses are essentially forced to start up again or else they risk losing their store and being unable to pay employees.

It can be a difficult process, so here are a couple of tips to help you prepare your store for a post-COVID reopening.

Contact all of your staff members and let them know your intentions

First, make sure you get in touch with all of your staff members and let them know what your intentions are. If you suddenly call them a day before you plan to open and ask them to come in, then they’re not going to like it and they may even refuse to work.

Make sure you contact them beforehand and listen to anything they have to say. You also need to let them know as soon as possible so that they have plenty of time to prepare. Many workers have likely made arrangements for their lifestyle and commitments due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and asking them to change this for your sake might be too much to ask.

Ensure that you listen to their concerns and expectations of you as an employer

Make sure you’re listening to any concerns that your employees have. You’ll also want to listen to their expectations of you as an employer.

For example, most workers will request that their employers use a professional cleaning company like 4 Clean co to make sure that their workplace is disinfected properly before they return to work. It’s also likely that they’ll ask you to establish some basic safety measures, such as providing plenty of masks, offering hand sanitiser to workers and customers, and also teaching staff how to be more careful regarding the spread of COVID.

Start a marketing campaign to let your audience know you’re opening again

Let people know that your business is going to reopen soon. If you don’t, then there’s a low chance that they’ll even notice that your business is up and running again. You could consider using social media to let your followers know, but you might also want to use promotional campaigns to get people to come to your store again.

Don’t forget to make your customers feel comfortable as well

Lastly, make sure you’re adapting the customer experience for a post-COVID opening. For instance, let your customers know what you’re planning to do in terms of looking after your staff, and make sure they understand any changes to your store that they’ll need to comply with.

You’ll want to make changes to your store so that your staff and customers feel safe, but you need to be patient with customers that might be upset or dissatisfied with the way you’re handling things. Make sure you accept any feedback given to you so that you know what changes to make in the future.
