Are Americans Comfortable with Virtual Therapy?
The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences surveyed 1,000 Americans, and only 21% of respondents reported that they feel comfortable receiving virtual therapy or counseling.
The fact that only about one-fifth of those surveyed feel comfortable receiving mental healthcare virtually is concerning, given we are in the midst of a global pandemic.
In an effort to help people feel more comfortable with the idea of receiving virtual therapy or counseling, the university created a printable list of questions that individuals can ask before starting treatment.
These questions will help people make sure they are asking the necessary logistical questions, such as how much treatment will cost, properly vetting a potential provider, and thinking about what they hope to get out of the experience.
